Executus Nul Rationalus
Term: Executus Nul Rationalus
Meaning: Amazingly enough coming from two English words, and those would be “Execute” (complete an action or movement, especially one requiring skill) and “Rationale” (the reasoning or principle that underlies or explains something, or a statement setting out this reasoning or principle). Throw in a “Nul”(as in Null), for the meaning of a negative reference, or lack of Rationale and the term is now complete.
Due to the extreme usage of this term I went all out and put it into faux Latin terms. In its new and impressive format its meaning is quite clear to those that have done something at work with no real reason behind it. It’s usually a task that some upper office/branch has put in a request and your manager has given you the grand honor of doing something that will either never be used, referenced, or has any real benefit in how you do your job. It at times even is acknowledged by your manager, director, or supervisor as something completely useless, but instead of questioning the request it’s just done to appease the corporate gods. Yes, let us not question those above us cause due to the fact that they are in a bigger office, have a larger salary, and attend many more meetings with other well paid people they have been granted knowledge of all things great and smaller. Perhaps that sounds a bit bitter, but it nearly impossible for someone that high up to knows the details of what every person below them does. It’s usually some initiative that some other corporation or supposed progressive mind has developed and to keep in the good graces with the other board members that initiative is made into a corporate necessity based on the pure fact that it will (supposedly) increase productivity and thus profit.
Does anyone actually check on the results of said requests sent down to the masses? I haven’t seen any and thus why I write this to keep my sanity hanging on by a thread. Perhaps it’s just due to communication which I’ll need to review in upcoming posts. Stay tuned.
