Shade of Grey

While catching up on all things current and such I run across this article aptly named “The Right Shade of Black”. Poor Mr. Obama can’t seem to catch a break from some skeptical African-Americans for some reason. Well, actually there is a reason, and it’s actually racial in origin … imagine that these days … shocking isn’t it?

It seems that Mr. Obama might be too popular with white voters, so according to this article African-Americans are filled with suspicion based on Mr. Obama having supporters that are somewhat “pale-er” in comparison. I’m stuck between laughing and stunned at how an African-Americans candidate can’t seem to catch a break from his own race (which personally I find this whole “race” characterization stupid cause I thought we were basically all human, homo-sapiens, and such, i.e. the human race) cause he’s actually appealing to non- African-Americans voters. So, in other words he would need to alienate white voters to keep his “similarly-raced individuals” (thinking about getting that phrase copyrighted) onboard. It truly boggles the mind how some people’s heads work, or attempt to work, or work in some fashion that seems like activity, but not exactly working per se. I wonder how complicated it is for this man to deal with people asking if he’s “black enough”. How can you possibly ask that about a person of any color? I guess the whole reality of someone being their own person no matter what color their DNA decided for them must have just missed these people.

Yeah, reality has a nasty habit of skipping over some people, but the problem is those people are always being skipped over and their really in some desperate need of a dose of reality. I guess they aren’t aware that as a candidate he’ll be representing and leading every citizen in this country and not just the people who have a high percentage of melanin. I was always under the impression that racial equality would somehow make us accept each other for what and who we were, but when that happens it seems like that isn’t what some people want to accept even when it’s in a good sense of the meaning. It seems that being stuck in ones ways is a much stronger issue then dealing with racial awareness and equality.

It’s not as if I’m some ultra-supporter of Mr. Obama, but completely off the wall concepts like this just make me have to respond.
