Endorsements?

Endorsements, we hear them when it comes to services, products, locations, you name it. I can certainly see how you can give an endorsement about a hotel you stayed at, or a restaurant, or a movie you saw, but I can’t seem to get my mind around endorsing someone in politics. I mean, in most cases that person has never held an office, but you have people swearing to you up and down how great they will be. Is there some supply of crystal balls I haven’t found yet? Just because someone is a great person, or at least seems like one, how can anyone know what they will do in office making decisions for massive amounts of people?
The most hysterical form of endorsement of politicians is the “celebrity” endorsements, which alone brings about how easily people can be swayed and lead around like sheep based solely on how they like that celebrity in whatever field they specialize in. Do famous people get a glimpse into the future as a perk of making it to the big time of the entertainment world? An actor or singer stands next to some candidate and all of a sudden peoples’ minds turn to gelatin and they stand in awe that *celebrity name here* likes *candidate name here*. Can you imagine people fall for someone based on the fact that a majority of their I-pod contains the person giving the endorsement?
Is this just a case of being stupid, gullible, or are people just so bored with choosing a candidate that they would rather leave that decision to someone they just watched at the movies? Who really cares if some celebrity likes him or her? Somehow some people believe that because someone is “famous” their judgment is way beyond us non-famous ‘peasants’. Just because so-and-so acts well, or has a talk show does that give them some precognitive ability to see how well that person will do in office?
I guess till the majority of sheep, I mean people, snap out of their mental fog candidates and their famous friends will pull this mass hypnotism act.
Beware the voting sheep!

I can only speak for myself, but my mind was already made up to support Senator Barack Obama months before he received the plethora of “celebrity” endorsements that “appear” to have bolstered his presidential campaign.
Critically thinking voters will always consider the source of any endorsement. Look at the number of people President George W. Bush deceived 8 years ago and how much his refusal to listen to the “voice of reason” has cost America and Americans.
We can’t afford to get it wrong again. Our children are depending upon our ability to think for ourselves. Because Barack Obama gives me and millions of critically thinking Americans hope, he has earned the right to receive my vote.
Thank you for sharing.

Manchild .. thanks for your input.
I can certainly respect anyone who makes an intelligent decision on their own. I’m glad that your one of those people, not because of your choice, but cause of you making the choice on your own.
p.s. I have nothing against Mr. O himself, for the record .. just waiting to see how things pan out for November.
