Politics & Elections
One thing I rarely will comment on, that is if it’s not just completely ridiculous, is politics and what politicians say, do, don’t do, didn’t do, state they don’t recall, or anything similar in meaning. Though I am a firm believer in democracy and I’m glad I live in a country that was founded on the principals of such I think the current state of politics would make our founding fathers howl in despair.
I don’t dedicate myself to any particular party because this again is just another means to complicate something that is so simple at heart. As if the party you join will feel exactly as you do when it comes to every issue and decision during the elections. It doesn’t seem logical to join a party based on a majority of what you believe in does it? The Right, the Left, the Red States, the Blue States, can we please make up some more mindless terms that way I’ll forget why I wanted to vote in the first place? Do liberals believe everything in the liberal sense? Do conservatives think conservatively about everything? The need for specific party affiliation seems to just strangle the basics of freewill and independent thought, or perhaps that’s the definition of politics when you get down to the details. Just hypnotize the sheep to the polls and have them vote you into office, and then forget about them till your term is up.
If it was up to me, I’d make all candidates for any elected office sign a contract based on their official stance on the issues and what they have promised to accomplish while in office. If said person voted for a bill, proposed a bill, or made any stance against their officially stated stance that representative would be fired, removed from office, and no longer hold an office for a specified amount of time. I consider that there seems to be contracts for every other agreement under the sun in this country so why not one of the more important agreements we hold dear - the agreement of fair representation in our government. At least I don’t intend on suing them if they lie to me, but just kick their lame asses out of office so they don’t insult me and forget about me and the promises they made once they get into office.
Last, but certainly not least I would remove the ability for anyone in office to be able to set or increase their own salary. What kind of lunacy is this? I wish I had a job that I could okay my own wage increase, now that’s a job perk!
