Baking Humor
As Christmas approaches so do some of the traditions we tend to repeat as reflex. I thought I would change things up some this year and baked some different kind of cookies with mom. It’s not as much the baking together as the stories we can tell after and things we can make fun of during the grand baking process. So, I decided to ask if she wanted to bake something different and not the standard cookies we usually bake. So we go searching over at www.foodnetwork.com, and find some “Chocolate Chunk Cookies with Pine Nuts” and they seemed like a good bet. Remind me to question my baking decisions in the future, (thank God I rarely bake) and if I ever mention these cookies please proceed to take the recipes and burn it in front of me.So we follow the recipe to the letter, in fact we doubled the recipe cause they looked quite good, and the end result were far from what we expected. In fact, the results were drier then any cookie I think I have ever tasted, and considering the amount of butter I was amazed at the end result. If you didn’t eat them with some form of liquid it would possibly dehydrate the surface of your mouth till your tongue felt like a piece of beef jerky. The cookie’s texture was similar to charcoal briquettes after your burn them in a BBQ, and how the ashes tend to drop off if you touch it after the ember die down. After the initial shock and annoyance of the cookies died down the humor kicked in and the follow came to mind.
Tis the season to get what they deserve
It’s that time of year again and it’s that time to make those decisions that aren’t any easier as the years go by. What do you get those kids? You know the kids that aren’t exactly on the “Nice” and more on the “Naughty” side of the list. Well we got the answer for you and our hope is our time well spent in the kitchen will save you time when it comes to Christmas shopping. Remember the ole joke about getting coal in your stocking? Well, with our new recipes you can deliver that and with a new baking flair.
Introducing the Charcoal Cookie! Yes, we here at the Briquette Institute have developed a cookie that looks delicious and is completely edible, but taste like a lump of cocoa flavor coal. It’s something that will give the kids the real message of Christmas if they don’t want to listen to you the whole year round, but are expecting something from you at the end of the year. Take a look at our samples and you will be amazed that anything that smells so fresh could be such a “taste treat”. Just looking at all those chocolate chips and pine nuts makes you wonder how they can taste like evidence at a local arson crime scene. Our special recipe will make you proud as your children bite into them and wonder what they could have done to deserve such a stocking stuffer. So, don’t delay in ordering your Charcoal Cookies in advance to allow for Christmas delivery.
