Review: Jiglu
During the last couple of months I’ve been researching which tools and additions I wish to add to the blog landscape. I saw advertising about Jiglu and decided to take a look and see how worthwhile it was to include it on the sidebar. Yes, you must admit that automated ‘tag’ selection is quite a relief when you don’t want to think like a cross between a mild mannered web fanatic and a search engine on a good day.The install was quite painless and with the simple addition of a line of code to place the javascript I was done before I knew it. There are a few options when placing code on your site I must add in case you’re curious or just feel like reading about it. The code options are as follows, the Autotag Widget (this will tag anything on the page viewed), then we have the New Tags Widget (from their site “This widget displays the new tags the system has found for a web site.”), and the last option is the Tag Map Widget. I’m still trying to figure out the perk of using the New Tag Widget, so presently I’m just using the Autotag Widget myself.
Initially it seemed to be working well extracting tags from my content, but today I noticed something of interest. According to Jiglu and it search function and recognition engine it classified a person recently named “Heath Bar”. Oh well, technology isn’t perfect, but it certainly can be entertaining at times when it tries to think like us. So, all humor aside I think my initial install and trial of Jiglu has been worth the effort and I’d suggest it to anyone who doesn’t feel like doing that task manually. If there is someone out there who enjoys manually doing tags then you have more spare time and patience then I do and I bow to your time management skills.

I love widgets. I even love saying the word widget.
