I’m not lovin’ it
First let me say that I’ve eaten McDonald’s food, and that I have nothing personal against them, even if on occasion I seriously wonder about fast food service these days. My post has to do with the way in which McDonald’s presents themselves in the media.
Is McDonald’s actually trying to be serious? The reason I ask this is the way in which they advertise their product and make statements like this on their web site.
“McDonald’s is one of life’s many small pleasures that millions of people around the world enjoy every day.”
Their current advertising campaign makes you seriously wonder how conceited they truly are about their product, and now they make statements about going to McDonalds as being “one of life’s many small pleasures”. I’d like to see the “pleasure scale” so I can see where a small fry is in comparison to the rest of the world’s pleasures.
Ever since I heard the now well known “I’m lovin’ it” I knew the world just got less intelligent. Is it just me, or is McDonalds just a bit deluded about their product and contribution to the world at large? We’re talking fast food here, not some contribution worthy of being nominated for a Noble Peace Price. It seems that McDonald’s is suffering a delusion that the convenience of fast food is some addiction to gourmet delicacies. Someone needs to tell McDonald’s, or any fast food establishment, that they aren’t really doing anything special or worthwhile, but just making already crafted food items and allowing people to get them quicker. I’ve never seen commercials take so much credit for reinventing a salad or a fruit cup as if they introduced a new form of science.

But it’s so goooooood!
I suppose, but considering french fries as a pleasure just seems a bit overboard when you’re talking about fast food.
Though I might have my moments of weakness when eating at Chick-Fil-A.
